For My Fellow Photographers: Things I Can’t Live Without

Gear:

HoneyBook: When I first started out, I managed all my clients using a calendar and Docusign. As my business grew, I needed help staying organized. HoneyBook sends contracts, quiestionairres, invoices all from one location. It has helped me stay sane through my busiest times.

Narrative Select: This has made the culling process so much quicker and easier. It allows you to go through all of your raw photos quickly and star the ones you plan to keep. It also lets you know which if photos are out of focus, if the subject’s eyes are closed or which photos are the ‘best’ in the series of shots. When I first started I used to upload EVERYTHING to Lightroom (noob) and it took up so much storage.

Camera Backpack: The Brevite has been a solid companion over the years. It’s great for quick shoots where I don’t need a whole lot of gear. It holds two camera bodies, two lenses, a flash and my computer so I love this for engagement sessions or branding content. It also has a phone slot and water bottle holder. 10/10!

Lacie External Hard Drives: I keep everything on my external hard drives. As soon as I get back form a wedding/shoot, I upload all photos to a ‘raw’ folder. My second hard drive serves as back up to the first. Do yourself a favor and don’t keep much on your desktop. It slows your computer down and wastes space.

Lightroom: I do 99% of my editing on here. It has so many great features and is a great software. You can even select one subjects face, eyes, body skin, etc to edit the most minute details. Above and beyond!

Pixieset: My go to for delivering high-resolution galleries to clients. You can create sub-categories for each section (ie getting ready, ceremony, details, etc) to help organize the photos. They can download the entire gallery, star their favorite photos and share with friends and family. I upgraded to unlimited storage so it serves as an additional back up.
